This lecture and laboratory course is designed for metrologists, laboratory and quality assurance technicians, supervisors, engineers, and others interested in the basic principles of static pressure measurement. Primary emphasis is placed on the principles and practices used in the calibration of pressure standards and measuring instruments including piston gauges, digital pressure controllers, and other elastic transducers. This five-day laboratory exercise includes lecture and discussion on pressure measurement hardware and influences, demonstrations of pressure measurement techniques, and numerous hands-on projects. The group projects include both hydraulic and pneumatic pressure measurements and formal calibrations from 0.2 psi absolute to approximately 10,000 psi in the gauge mode.
Seminar attendees participate in the following projects:
- high precision piston gauge crossfloat with <1 part per million (ppm) performance
- low accuracy piston gauge crossfloat
- hydraulic bourdon tube dial gauge calibrated directly with hydraulic piston gauge
- gas bourdon tube dial gauge calibrated using hydraulic piston gauge and 5 ppm liquid-gas separator
- high pressure absolute transducer calibration using hydraulic piston gauge and barometer
- high precision transducer calibration using gas piston gauge
- subatmospheric absolute transducer calibration using gas piston gauge and reference pressure monitor.
Discussions also include calibration system error analysis and completion of calibration reports. This seminar provides the pressure measurement training necessary for compliance with the new ISO and ANSI standards for quality control and laboratory accreditation.

Who Should Attend
The Static Pressure Measurement Seminar is ideal for anyone interested in gaining or refining technical skills related to performing pressure calibrations or maintaining a quality assurance program. Metrologists, laboratory and quality assurance technicians, supervisors, engineers, and other static-pressure measurement professionals should attend.
Classes are held at our facility in Houston, Texas. Many of our course participants schedule a Sunday departure to visit some of Houston's sites, including NASA, museums, sporting events and a host of other activities in the nations 4th largest city.
